Legible Landscapes for Local Learning
We are living in a version of modernity with no character or charm, destroying greenery and vegetation to satisfy stakeholders with no regard for the environment.
An empty field in Southwater, West Sussex is being developed into a standard bland housing estate which would remove habitats and alter the eco system of the area.
The studio’s brief was to create the same number of units as the proposed development, but on half the site. Keeping the east field as a green corridor.
Legible Landscapes for Local Learning is a mixed-use research lab and housing complex for measuring various aspects of the environment, informing relevant local parties on what should happen, can happen and needs to happen to the environment around them. The project brings together the urban and natural worlds into a co-inhabited scheme with the proposal becoming wilder towards the existing hedgerow.
