Entangled Earth +3° (ADS13)

My fourth year studio focused on imagining a +3° world and how people and the natural environment adapts technologically, ecologically, politically and culturally to rising temperatures and climate extremes.

The studio acknowledges the troubles of places, times, matters, meanings through a use of mixed media at a global scale in term 1 and narrowing to a site specific intervention in term 2.

Future City Design Studio (DS3.1)

In search of architectures of transformation and delight

My third year studio’s focus was on the ideas of a future city. Both projects questioned our ideas of what a city should be and how it should operate. We were encouraged to observe and investigate specific issues in Limehouse, resulting in two communities coming together who would not usually do so.

“Architecture is an agent for change, a tool for intervention and social transformation.”

The ideas explored in first semester were adapted and built upon in the second semester culminating in a social condenser.

Bell Phillips Architects

Work Experience

As part of 3rd year at The University of Westminster, students undertake a two week work placement at a practice. At Bell Phillips, who mainly specialise in social and affordable housing schemes, I created 3d models and plans for a client meeting at the end of the second week. All of the learning and tasks were incorporated into a university work report detailing the practice, the project I was working on and business side of the profession.

Building back better for the “parliament of things”

My second year studio’s focus was designing for, and with, all living beings and ecosystems equally. Our projects questioned how architects incorporate nature in designs and the effects this has on the surrounding eco system asking “for whom, or what, are we building back better.” This understanding of nature’s needs resulted in a mixed-use residential scheme in Southwater, West Sussex.
